I’m officially a Twit.
Yup, I caved. You can follow me on twitter @thetechnosnob. I’ll be posting stream of thought comments from various parties, while internet shopping, and whenever some douchebag DJ makes a stupid comment. Pretty much just ripping on the current state of the EDM scene (from clothes, to people, to parties, to djs, to the music industry in general).
Tumblr page is coming. It will be set up so you can just look at all the pretty pictures and don’t have to listen to my insightful commentary (other than my mom who doesn’t like my swearing, i have no idea why anyone would mute me).
Instagram my happen if ever i figure out how to take night time party pics on my phone. Don’t hold your breath.
Rewind: SWEAR Criminals
SWEARs quintessential skateboard shoe. If I have the model number, it’s in the image’s file name. I’m not 100% sure the horn ones are considered Criminals (i’m going off of the shoe base).
Fast Forward: Levitation
Ugh, past my bedtime.

Todays DIY courtesy of Ivania Carpio at LOVE AESTHETICS. Check out: DIY Transparent Cuffs for instructions. I think there’s a variety of perspex colours out there so they don’t necessarily have to be clear.

Shuffle: Solestruck Blog
See? I’m not fucking crazy. Though in all honesty the hiking boot truck model is probably the ugliest pair of shoes made by SWEAR Alternative.
The following text and photos courtesy of Solestruck Blog.
“A quick trek to Google-Image search (my go-to for stalking), let’s you know that the obsession with the 90’s inspired and Portugal based Swear Alternative is alive and well. What was once a powerhouse brand among club kids, techno heads, ravers and party goers global, seemed to vanish when we hit the mid-2000’s. The insanity inspired lifted shoes, boots, platforms and outrageous kicks live on via sources like E-bay and the feet of vintage party monsters everywhere. You can imagine our ecstatic nature when a few months ago we found a stash of never worn, mint condition, Swear Alternative kicks for him and her—direct from the original factory in Portugal! Sadly these are very limited in quantity, but the intense styling, and swear quality is unlimited! We have posted all the styles we have rec’d and they are limited to what is listed—-we are sure the Swear Alternative fans are as excited as we are!”
“Around the office–the TRUCK BOOT, has become a unisex favorite with our staff. The hiking boot inspired upper, but reworked in burnished royal blue leather and, of course on a very daytime-chic eva-flatform, gives this style just the right amount of kick for us! Do you have pics of you in our original Swears? Post them on our FB GIRL!”
Rewind: SWEAR Kiss boots
Woohoo! Thanks to SWEAR maven Gerrixx for uploading scans of a 2001 SWEAR Alternative catalogue. It’s helped sort out my mass of pictures. I have a lot of updating to do. Slowly adding profiles to the Archive page which will have company profiles and every picture I can get my hand on, hopefully organized by style.
There is also a SWEAR facebook group if you are interested.
The SWEAR Kiss platforms are legendary. Less ravey, worn more in the goth/industrial scene so far as I can tell. Bata Shoe Museum should really start working on a SWEAR collection, starting with these.
Fast Forward: Gareth Pugh FW 2008
[Ed. note – i’m sick so not much commentary this week. Sorry 😦 ]
“Sometime during the genesis of this collection, the Wizard of Oz bumped into Predator” (style.com)
Holy shit Style.com, I can’t think of a more appropriate stylistic description. Well played.
[Another ed. note. Not so well played style.com, you have the worst photos of this collection online. You might as well have your editor just write prose than use this photographer.]
[COCOROCHAINGARETHPUGHOMG]
[Officially adding “Zipper the Samurai” costume to my Burning Man to do list]
[Agnes Deyn! And Beyonce! Note that Beyonce was kinda behind the times in 2010. Get with it Bebe.]
[Yet another reason why Oakland’s hair care stores are awesome. Making this^^^ and being able to acquire an emergency afro at 9pm on a Friday.]
[Agness motherfucking Deyn. Never really got her, but yeah. She is kicking everyone’s ass right here]
[How freaking adorable is this little goth baby??]
Fast Forward: Nike
Athletic wear used to be pretty de rigeur in the party scene for chicks. Have to say it was pretty great to go to parties where dressing like a tomboy was considered dead sexy. And clothes designed for workouts does help with sustaining 5+ hours of dancing. If I had oodles of money I would have a pair of adidas shell toes and matching track jacket in every colour possible. Never really was into Nike, but these shots of US Olympic athletes are kickass. Totally rave worthy dance gear.

Happy NYE!!!
Well this was quite the year in terms of personal development. Still a ways to go, particularly professionally and financially, but I’m looking forward to the new year as I’ve worked very very hard to build a stable foundation for myself. Off to a jungle party tonight, then likely to the CoZo and a proper catch up with my old crew. Believe it or not, in oh 14 years of partying, mostly in the GTA, I’ve never been to the Comfort Zone so this checks off another item on my bucket list.
This will be me and my friends as of 6am on Jan 1
(Thanks to honestlywtf)
Resolutions coming in a few days, meanwhile lets see some glittery party getups suitable for a club kid on NYE. More glam-tastic battiness than techno snob but who fucking cares its NYE.
Rewind: SWEAR Wolf
Sorry I’ve been phoning it in, tomorrow’s my last day before vacation. Looking forward to sleeping for pretty much the first time in 9 months. Also planning on spending a lot of time working on blog posts 🙂 Meanwhile, back to SWEARS. Again with clownish shoes but i kinda love these. They could use a bit of a redesign but there’s the beginning awesome. Fuck, somebody should really do that *cough cough*.
Rewind: SWEAR Whirl
Almost forgot. Sorry today is brief, 2 more work days then holiday. I have SOOOOOOOO much awesome to share, just need to write it up.
Don’t have many pics of this model, but these are definitely Whirls 🙂
Rewind: SWEAR Street Mix
SHOE PORN. More to come 🙂 I think I literally pulled every picture of SWEARS off the internet. EVERY PICTURE. The Street Mixes personally aren’t my favourite style of SWEARS but they were immensely popular. I think the Camo SMs are the best of the bunch.

If I had massive amounts of disposable income, all my debts paid, and everything else i’ve ever wanted bought and paid for, I might buy these just for the novelty. Still doesn’t quite cut the mustard, but nice try Karl.
Fast Forward: Honor
Oh yeah, adding one of these to the list for next Burning Man’s costumes. HOMFG.
